knitting with circular needles.

I am knitting a Pheiffer Falls Hooded Scaf from Interwear Knits2008 winters edition  The scarf pattern calls for 82 stitches on a circular needles. 42 of the 82sts are on a pair circular needles.  The instructions indicate that i Do not turn work, slide sts on cir needle to other end of needle.  how soD i this without turning?  If anyone has this magazine please help me understand this procedure.
